This. I wouldn’t go anywhere north of Fort Lauderdale or Ft. Myers.

We went to South Beach with our teen over Spring Break. Stayed at the Lowes. That is a good choice. Teen enjoyed biking up to Bal Harbour, shopping, some fun restaurants and people watching. Also Little Havana food tour was great. South Beach was a good 3-4 day destination.

Me again, that should be Loews, not the hardware store!

Heard good things about the Coconut Point Hyatt too

If money isn't an option, the 1 Hotel South Beach is nice - lots of pools and a nice beach.

We went two years ago to the keys right after Christmas and it was cool and windy every day except, of course, the last day when we flew out.

It was a gamble and one we lost that year. We stayed at Hawks Cay which was also underwhelming. The heated pool was tepid at best and the facilities meh for the price.

If you want warm for sure you need to go further south.

Yeah, we went a few years ago and it wasn’t swimming weather. Even sucked it up and tried to snorkel at Dry Tortugas but it was all murky due to the wind and waves. Sometimes you can hit the jackpot and it’ll still be warm, but you can’t count on it.

Winter break is hit or miss. We’ve had winter break trips to Charleston/Kiawah when we’ve worn tank tops and others when we’ve bundled up in winter coats and gloves.

For Florida, we’ve consistently found the Keys, Miami, and Naples warm enough to enjoy outdoors. Sometimes it’s downright hot if the sun is out. Water temps are relative. I mean, the Atlantic in MD/DE is cold even during the summertime imho. If you swim in Bethany in July, then you can swim in Miami or the Keys in Dec/Jan.

We’ve been to the Bahamas and Puerto Rico (and further south) over winter break as well. Locals don’t swim in the Bahamas over Christmas break because they think it’s too cold, but we found the water temps fine. Your body adjusts quickly, especially if it’s sunny and warm outside.

I’ve stayed at Loews at I liked it (Miami). I’ve stayed at other boutique hotels in South Beach and enjoyed it—very walkable.

Everyone will have fun on a cruise, and you’ll have warmer weather for beach days.

You might be able to find a deal if you aren’t picky.
