I’ve been watching worlds on peacock. Team USA was stricken by gastroenteritis, so it’s not been the meet they prepared for.

Twelve year old Yu Zidi went a 2:09 and change in the 2IM and just missed 3rd place by 0.06. That time is 9 sec faster than the U.S. NAG’s for 11-12 girls, and 3 sec faster than the 11-12 boys’, as well as the 13-14 girls’ NAGs. Her 4IM is coming up, but her best time is 15 sec faster than the US NAG 11-12 girls’ record, and again, faster than the 11-12 boys’ and 13-14 girls’ NAG. To put it into perspective, summer McIntosh was going a 2:18 in the 2IM at age 12, 9 sec behind Yu’s time. Yikes.

This. No one is surprised that it’s a Chinese swimmer, who also does not appear to be 12. I would go with she’s older than 12 and on PEDs.

Is there any point to making her younger than her actual age? She wasn't competing in World Jrs, she was at open.
