If you're a man and you're not wearing a swim shirt, what are we even doing here?

That's not the point, but it is a point.

As a hairy man, men who are not hairy freak me out and men who are hairy but shave make me laugh.

I don't get this. In Europe no one is wearing swim shirts. Seems the typical American Prude.

I hate how my DH won't wear one and then uses like a whole can of sunscreen. Put a shirt on!

In Europe, people tend to have lower BMIs. Nobody wants to see your red flabby belly.

My DH has taken to wearing one, and I am so glad. Also hate putting sunscreen on his hairy back, and hate even more that he’s decided that I am his designated clipper. I made him a couple waxing appointments, but then he just decided it was easier if he bought an electric shaver and had me do it. It is… not romantic.

They have much better sunscreen there. Seriously, it's chemically different.

Australia it's gotten much more common.

Also, if you shop somewhere like REI or Patagonia, high-end retailers that do not make clothes for fat people, they are pushed. It's sold as active lifestyle gear. Surfers wear them.

My husband wears a shirt when he’s out of the water and has dried off. I rarely see men wearing a swim shirt, mostly just children.

On sunny days, I'd say it's about 30 percent men. One reason I wear one is to help make my son feel okay about wearing one. He has very very pale skin and with all the in and out of the water there's no way he can possibly keep the sunscreen on.

When in the water a swim shirt is a good idea. Out of the water, it can get hot when dry.

My DH has super light skin and has to wear something in the water and then has a lighter weave button up shirt he wear when the swim shirt if dry. We also have an umbrella or sun shade. Otherwise we can't go to the beach or he will burn to a crisp.

Time to make him some laser hair removal appointments.

We don't want skin cancer. It has nothing to do with being prudish.

Lasers couldn't deal with what I've got.

One time I had to go to the emergency room and they had to shave my chest to attach the monitors and I literally broke the razor. They had to go find the bathroom kit they keep for overnight doctors with a high-end razor to finish the job. They thought it was super hilarious.

Sounds like you haven’t been around American pools enough. If you saw how gross 99% of the men look, you too would be begging for them to wear shirts.

Have you BEEN to a beach in Europe?

YIKES.

The hot ones are way hotter, the ugly ones are WAY uglier.
