Why?

My dd made it last year and it was one of the thrills of her life. YMMV

I’m starting to think skipping might be for us. Only week all summer we can take a vacation.

You just realized this today and decided to go on a spontaneous vacation instead of IAS?

We are leaving for vacation the day after IAS and coming home the day before fall sport tryouts on Aug 4.

I really loathe FCPS for ending school so late. It's a solvable problem and next year FCPS gets out even later.

It depends on the swimmer and the team. If a team has a lot of swimmers participating then it makes it more fun than sitting around by yourself or with 1-2 other teammates.

Even with a lot of swimmers it’s not fun.

A spontaneous vacation that can't wait until Saturday at 3 pm no less. Haha

also NVSL moves a week later next year. All stars will be so late, as will divisionals. Thanks FCPS!

If you mean skipping this Saturday, I hope you scratch and let an alternate know sooner rather than later. That would be the decent thing to do.

I just looked up the calendar. Why did NVSL move later? Time trials not until 6/13 and IAS on 8/1. Ugh.

This is super annoying. If you have a kid doing a fall sport in high school there is literally no opportunity to go on vacation unless you skip something.

This meet is so overrated. I can’t believe people skip or delay summer vacations.

Maybe because last day of school will be 6/17 for some county like Fcps?

Completely agree. The water will be hot, the pool will be slow, it’s not very deep, and the weather is almost always hot.

It’s terrible! Rarely do people swim their best times, or at least in my family. Divisionals is the way to end the season.
