Going out in the sun is linked to cancer, gotta live a little. And honestly people who enjoy scotch like this individual are not pounding alcohol, they sip for taste.

Very little joy in life is gained from telling others to stop enjoying life’s small pleasures because they might die.

Thanks for the other recs I’ll look into them!

Drinking habitually is enough to do you in. This is like giving someone a pack of cigarettes - and it’s my business because like with lung cancer, my taxes and health insurance premiums are paying for all this.

Same for skin cancer. You should advocate for burkas.

Johnny Walker is trash.

Get him a single malt, not Islay. Bunnahabhain is great, so is great Bruichladdich. You don't need to break the bank.

$300 is not going to get a particularly good one.

Yes - i'd like to know the cancer rate in the tea-totaling burka wearing countries, actually.

Bunnahabhain isn’t a bad idea but technically it is Islay.

If some smoke is ok then Talisker 18 might be an option

I bet there are NGOs with grant money burning a hole in their pocket.

You get great scotch for less than half. This PP doesn’t know anything.

You can get two 150mls of Laphroaig for $100.

I don’t think Burkas have any particular spf value - but there is increasing links between cancer and booze.

Yes, but OP specifically said they did NOT want anything peaty. Which knocks out most of the Islays, and definitely knocks out Laphroig. (Sadly.)

Bunnahabhain, Bruchladdich, and Laphroig are all Islays, and OP said not smoky.

OP, I'd get a bottle of Dalmore 15-year old. It's a Highland whisky, so very smooth and almost a bit sweet. You should be able to find it for $200 or less.

My husband, a Scotch lover, favors Balvenie. There are a bunch of different ages that would meet your price.

No no no. The only half decent scotch/whisky made outside of Scotland is chivas or monkey shoulder.
I’d look for a single malt, highlands, like macallan or glen morangie.
