SEC job openings and telework

the messaging has been pretty clear that there will likely be no RIFs. But there is still a hiring freeze, and there will be a reorg and I suspect that a bunch of 15s and 16s and 17s are gonna get knocked down to be 14s, question will be if 14s will get knocked down to 12s. oh, and a bunch of contractors are gonna get cut. good times for all.

this is just an advisor position to uyeda, it's not like the SEC is hiring for real.

Where are you getting this nonsense from? I know several people who would know and there’s zero talk of anyone getting knocked down in SK level. And the reorgs being discussed are minor.

How would that even work anyways? They’d CUT the pay of the 16s and 17s? I doubt it. They didn’t even do that when they got rid of branch chiefs in enforcement 15 years ago.

Are you all still seeing people leave? My group is still slowly bleeding people. We are probably down 30% at this point, and still counting. Not sure if the new administration has much of an agenda. Hope not.

I just applied to this lol.

What's a NTE one-year term mean? It's not a detail, so I'll get the boot eventually?

Yes, eventually you will get the boot. It’s a term limited appointment.

But the 5th one, which is for Executive Staff, says “telework eligible — YES - as determined by agency policy.”

Interesting. So will some positions now be able to telework?

Commissioners and their counsel travel a lot and have insane hours. It is likely the same adhoc that everyone has but given the long days, being able to TW doesn’t necessarily mean you are not in the office all day. It could be that you are in the office all day and then go home and TW after hours.

He is also advertising to the regions, which is interesting. It’s not telework, but I appreciate the geographic flexibility.

Same poster here.

This isn’t really related, but I will give MU credit for finding talented people. I haven’t seen a ton and he is a bit egotistically blustery himself but his counsel have consistently been some of the smartest people I’ve seen at the agency.

Of course they are. Did you see all the asinine replies when DOGE asked the public via twitter for suggestions on how to make the SEC more efficient?

Well, pretty much all of their demands were satisfied.

Ripple, Richard Heart, etc.
