SEC job openings and telework

Anonymous
I count 5 open position on USAJOBS. Four of those are in Exams and say “telework eligible — NO.”

But the 5th one, which is for Executive Staff, says “telework eligible — YES - as determined by agency policy.”

Interesting. So will some positions now be able to telework?

How can exams not be telework eligible? Don’t they work offsite? so if you are on an exam offsite from 9-2 then you have to take leave the rest of the day?

Probably depends on position in exams. But you’re missing the bigger picture/point — why is this executive position eligible for TW but not the other 4 positions?

it's not, really. it says it's eligible per agency policy. agency policy is ad hoc telework only, and only with supervisor approval. since your supervisor for this position will be the guy who took telework away from the entire agency, i wouldn't count on getting much, if any.

So then why do the other positions just say outright NO, while this one says Yes? Obviously there’s a difference.

And if you think that he, personally, took TW away (or was anything other than the messenger), I have a condo in Miami for you.

Hr forgot to update it. That’s it. Don’t read too much into it.

Sure. I’m sure that’s it. Just a coincidence that it happens to be for a position on the top floor.

Anyone interested in a condo in Gainesville?

What’s so shocking about this? 10th floor people are coming and going as they please even if it isn’t officially in their schedule or whatever. The rules are just for the underlings.

Just don’t run our noses in it. Hide it in the USAJOBS posting then tell applicants offline or something.

No doubt someone told him to do it but he did it. Integrity is doing the right thing even at personal cost. Here, you honor the agreement.

The politicals at my agency are able to telework fine. They just say they’re on leave but get on calls. But that can’t be the case if it happens every week. Whatever. It’s the least of my concerns and I don’t expect any less hypocrisy from these people.

With the hiring, does this mean the threat of RIFs is over?

The executive position is probably 12 hour days 6 days a week or something crazy.

So put in for comp time. Or is there an exemption to RTO for “long hours”?

I dont know, I'm not at Yreasury but I know of two people working in our agency executive office would get urgent calls at like 10 pm on a Saturday night to do XYZ. Of course they put in for OT and comp time, but nobody is going to the office at that time of day.
