If they're still paying the coaches, then any kid should get to come, since presumably their families and registration fees are *what pays the coaches*. |
For Divisionals and Divisional relays our team rep directly reaches out to parents to fill volunteer positions. I say yes because my kids swim in those meets. |
Ours bought TYR swim backpacks for all-stars two years ago with the team logo and swimmer's name and "all-stars 2023" on them. Obnoxious. |
Not to derail the thread, but my spouse and I have an all star swimmer and volunteered for years. We have decided not to volunteer anymore because the team decided to de-emphasize all star accomplishments in favor of "vibes". We will let the other parents pick up the slack. |
How does a team "de-emphasize all star accomplishments? What were they doing before that they stopped doing? |
No, our team does not charge more. The AS swimmers receive a new cap and shirt. The AS dinner is potluck provided by the AS swimmers family. Volunteers are provided by AS swimmers parents. |
Any extra caps, shirts, meals, etc should be paid for by the individual swimmers' families. That is how our team handles it. |
For our team, today is the last day of practice for kids that do not make divisionals. Practice dates/ /schedules were sent out 3 months ago. Your kid is missing 2 days of practice and 1 day of donuts. Put down the pitchfork. |
Ours bends over backwards to accommodate non-divisionals swimmers: they continue to get practices up until day before divisionals, despite no more meets .... no yard signs for us and they axed high point awards to avoid hurt feelings so it can go the opposite way too. |
Isn't making all stars the recognition? Oh no! They aren't celebrating Larlo's awesomeness enough? |
You resent kids on the team being able to show up and swim laps? |
You sound like a pompous jack-@ss |
The last day of practice is Friday for the team. Same as every year. There is a huge team breakfast.
That makes sense since bid ins won't even know until Thursday so teams just have them not practice and then practice? That does not make any sense. Any all stars will have practice next week to work on their events. No dinners. The team will buy the IAS cap and shirt for the swimmers but that is it. |
That is definitely going overboard. It's super weird. |
Does sound like a bit much. Caps and shirts seem like enough. |
