Wait -- So MLS Next will tell clubs (that are their members) that you either join a separate organization or you can't be part of us? MLS Next and GA have no formal connection. they have a cooperation agreement that has not been utilized in any significant way. Based on that they will force member clubs to take that action? I really doubt that. ECNL will love it if that is the case. Most will pick ECNL. In any event that is an antitrust tying arrangement that is not legal and the clubs could sue. Two entities cannot restrain trade in this way. Good luck with that.

I'd argue this is the worst time ever for your kid to be entering college (sorry for her). Sure things will change, but much younger kids will have time to adapt.

OP here. I disagree. She can play next year at her current ECNL club at U17 and her U18 season will be a formality. Bigger issue we are dealing with now is the continuing changing landscape of college sports and how it impact her recruiting. Roster limits, settlement agreement, fully funded teams or not. It's a lot to work through. Younger kids (like U12 now) can adapt. The kids caught at the U14/U15 levels are going to have it rough for a bit as clubs jump leagues and players want to find what's best for them moving forward. Ugh. Glad we are approaching the end.

Yes, the U11/U12-aged kids probably get the benefit of entering some degree of league stability through their high school years...before the next big shakeup tears the system apart again for the following generation.

Just the same old GA people trying to make much ado about nothing. The clubs have and will continue to be grandfathered in as they were when the DA folded less than 5 years ago.

MLS is not going to make them change to GA. MLS really doesn't care all that much about girls.

The pairing with GA is for optics and marketing--it was convenient. They really don't care if the GA program survives or not. Very little skin in the game as it has no bearing on their financials. They are certainly not going to stick their neck on the line to try to force their clubs to convert. There would be revolt and a disbanding on the girls side-- kind of like what happened at NVA.
