I just was letting you know. Nothing to grip about. |
Did someone just compare a private college of 8000 across several schools in California (10% accept rate) to a state university with 27,000 students (50% accept rate) in Alabama? |
Someone needs another cup of coffee, or to get their daily temper tantrum over with in the real world before returning. |
You have to be willing to engage with diverse perspectives. Some professors are in the Claremont Institute (a few help run it), some only care about the western tradition while others are scholars of race, religion, and multiculturalism. This is a school that’s both hired scholars from the Reagan administration and Jamaica Kincaid. They can hire a lot of well known scholars, because they pay more than others. |

You are not the one needing the coffee. It was a +1. |
?? |
Are you at all familiar with the area? You think wildfires will burn down the Claremont Colleges? |
+1 most important point. The college has toned down the republican energy (not libertarian, very conservative) in hopes of becoming a more diverse, inclusive student body. It has graduated a lot of important people in tech and finance. |
Possibly a classier version of Auburn's frat scene, but still an excellent school. Over the past couple of decades, some have complained about the heavy use of alcohol & drugs at CMC by CMC students. Written too often to be ignored. Nevertheless, CMC offers a great curriculum with excellent job placement in a 5 college community. Within the past decade, CMC was caught cheating when reporting inflated SAT scores to college rankings services such as US News. Not sure whether or not the miscreants are still a part of the CMC administration. |
You can read about their failed science department here: https://www.cmcforum.com/post/disintegrated-sciences |
apologies... |
What is so bad about being, or becoming, a white-collar trade school ? Hasn't this always been CMC's strength ? |
It’s a very successful, highly ranked bro/pre-professional school. I’d look at Pomona or Scripps instead for her interests. |
For a literature/philosophy double major, I would probably recommend Pomona or Scripps or even Pitzer College. |
