How do we feel about Claremont McKenna?

Anonymous
Recently rising college and DD thinks it would be a good opportunity as a literature/philosophy double major. There’s been great buzz on the college across other forum posts, so it would be nice to get some centralized opinion on the college and the culture. Is it still dude bro or is that reducing as the school gets more popular?

I thought all the Claremont Colleges were supposed to be pretty good along all vectors.

Definitely on the rise and the most likely candidate to be added to WASP in 10 years, assuming the trajectory continues. Great philosophy. Don’t know about lit.

Always will have a bro culture. Originally an all men’s college and they still sell “Claremont Men’s College” hats. During our tour, so many shirtless men playing beer pong during the day. It’s the classiest version of Auburn.

We feel it's a good school, but DCUM isn't a place to find "centralized opinion." We're just random people on the internet.

What’s good about it? Dull campus with limited offerings.

Definitely not true. Why, because WASP is nothing special and CMC is already there. There are about a dozen top SLACs with virtually identical student profiles and none of them are better than any of the others. They all have their niches and fit and those who believe that a certain 4 are somehow better than the others are just idiots.

CMC is more pre-professional than some others so keep that in mind. C5 consortium provide alot of opportunities.

One of the best things about it is the lack of dim little tools such as yourself.

Just so you know, it’s called 5Cs. I don’t think there is a C5 consortium.

Truth!

I do think the culture is changing, but it's slow. DD hated the vibe, but did really like Pomona.

Amazing school in an amazing setting. Nothing bad to say about ANY of the Claremont colleges.

Keep saying this and maybe you will believe it. But students and their applications vote with their feet. Learn from them.
