Have we done the "what to feed the gang at the beach" thread this season?

We will eat them here or there, we will eat them anywhere.

(Deviled eggs, too).

Deviled eggs. Now that deserves an, "ew, gross."

Not on the sand, not in the sun,
Deviled eggs are not beach fun!

ILY but not as much as I love deviled eggs!

If you say there are previous threads on this, why can’t you just read those instead of making people post the same things over and over again?

DP

I mean, to be fair, it's almost always the same menu for any occasion. We could have a sticky with approximately 7 foods, and the mod could ban every "what should I serve" topic.

If you don't want to cook, you order out. There's no magic meal that is both NOT cooking and NOT prepared food.

We got with a group of 16 and take turns cooking. Every family unit takes a night to cook (5 nights). On arrival night we do pizza and the last night is normally pulling everything out of the fridge and making what you can.

But that works for us. If it doesn't work for you, use the internet and start ordering food from nearby restaurants.

Can we clarify "at the beach".

Are we eating "at the beach house", or "at the beach" like "on the beach"? Huge difference.

No. Not obvious if you live on a beach.

This is the formula. Maybe grill burgers and dogs one night when you're there if you're feeling ambitious.

Key for me is to do cooking at home before going, and taking frozen stuff to the beach. So chili, taco meat, pork BBQ, chicken pot pie all made in the weeks before and frozen, then packed in the cooler.
Also, a honey baked ham is a great meal for the beach. Can be eaten for dinner then leftovers make good lunches the rest of the time.

Remember some people will not want a sit down dinner. Best beach time for us is 4 - 8 pm

We found it easier to go out for lunch than to find a table for dinner. Then we have something simple for dinner. There again I don't like sitting on the beach all day.

What?? That's gross. I'm not eating food made weeks before, then thawed.

Thankfully, we fly, so no one would even think of suggesting this.

DP I mean, chili I can see reheating ok. Whether or not I’m in the mood for chili depends on the beach. Manzanita or Cannon in September? Sure, why not.

Overall, I always plan to eat what’s local and fresh. Beach areas have good things local to the area, unless the area is lame.

When do you have time to do all this extra cooking?? I’m not even snarking, I’m impressed.

Do you have kids and if so, when/what do you do about dinner? I’d love this as an adult (I hate the beach at the height of the day) but my kids need regular meals at more or less regular mealtimes. I guess you can pack a picnic?
