I’m one of the PPs for whom version was not successful and none of the spinning babies stuff worked for me either. |
The good news is a lot of babies flip on their own, so you may go in and the kid is head down. Having had a failed ECV and a c section I will say that it wasn't the worst thing. I didn't have to take any pain meds out of the hospital and my kid is a happy healthy elementary school kid today and the scar is pretty faded (it is under your underwear line anyway). |
That's good news then. I read that many babies who were breech were that way due to mom's anatomy, which is why many women have multiple breech babies. Hopefully your baby will turn. As a 2nd baby they likely have more room and don't feel the need to turn yet. |
Absolute BS OP get a c section healthy by healthy mom |
My sil did the version and then the baby flipped back to breach after... but then flipped again before scheduled eviction. |
ECV at GW with an epidural.
If it doesn’t work you could also consider their breech program. My ECV failed last year. I transferred to GW and they did my version at 39 weeks. I had a vaginal delivery. Of note, I think it was successful because it was my second baby. I did labor with a binder on my belly until my water broke and the baby’s head was really down there and then took it off. Good luck 🍀 OP. |
Acupuncture
Special chiropractor that specializes in this After doing both of these things, my version with a very experienced doctor worked. It took one push. I wouldn't say it was painful, but it was very intense. Did deep breathing throughout and it helped. Good luck. |
Same!! My version didnt' work b/c my child had a cord wrapped around them several times, so also consider that there is a reason your child is breech and let your dreams for another vaginal birth go in order to deliver safely. |
I tried everything btw, acupuncture, moxibustion, frozen peas, vaginal music, etc., baby was stuck. |
OP update in case anyone is interested. I tried all your lovely suggestions (thank you all for the input) and he did move! But now he is just sideways and not budging haha. So my OB has now scheduled me for a version(which I may still opt out of) on the day of my induction/scheduled C-section. |
Good luck! My breech baby is now a teen, and stubborn (which can be both a good and bad thing). I joke that the refusal to go head down was our first indication of what was to come. ![]() |
Good luck, OP! Let us know! |
Just be careful, my baby was breech because the cord was wrapped around her neck - I heard them counting as they unwrapped her - 3 times. I had an ECV and they could get her halfway and then sprung back. Happened several times before they finally gave up. I'm glad it didn't work, it could have been disastrous. |
My third child was transverse and I opted out of the ECV because I was afraid of a scenario like this where the baby was breech for a reason. My first had the cord wrapped around his neck twice at birth and his heart rate had kept dropping during contractions - it was a terrible delivery that should have been a c section. So, I scheduled the c section for my third and to my surprise, at my 39 week appointment the baby had turned. We scheduled an induction for a couple of days later hoping the baby would not turn again. I did stand on my head a bit and do the recommended exercises but didn’t go to any practitioner. |
Spinning babies worked for me, and I started seeing a chiropractor that is certified in webster technique. My 10lbs+ baby flipped and stayed head down. |
