The U.N. report describes nothing like Hamas' atrocities; there's no comparison. Any abuse of civilians is regrettable, but considering Hamas' extensive vile conduct and initiation of the conflict, the U.N. allegations are relatively trivial (people had to sit on the ground in their underwear, really?), not to mention the well-known biased character of much U.N. reporting to begin with.

Hamas, and those who raised, indoctrinated, sheltered, and encouraged them, deserve no mercy. And, have been receiving just what they deserve.

The OP mentions glossing over the crimes of Hamas and you gloss over the crimes of the IDF. The UN has also documented incidents of rape and electrocution of genitals of Palestenians.

Because I read a lot of these threads and I don’t find many creadible posts that suggest Hamas are the “good guys” I see plenty making a distinction between Hamas and Palestinians and even more supporting the Palestinian people but few, if any, praising Hamas.

Please: Hamas was not on the verge of "taking full control of Israel." They killed a bunch of soldiers at a military base (definitely an impressive military feat), then moved on to killing a bunch of people in a kibbutz (less impressive, especially since many of them were elderly leftists) and shooting up a music festival (even less impressive militarily). They were on the verge of taking over another few highway intersections before the army showed up.

I know you want to argue that Israel is only bad, and only Israel is bad, but wouldn't it be better if you didn't stray so wildly from actual facts?
