Elite schools/poor outcomes/bitter kids

Are we SLAC bashing again? Anyway, next time you talk to them, ask them how they take advantage of the alumni networks and career services counseling at their schools.

OP post seems like a troll post - albeit a very sophisticated and high level one the best trolls on this site know how to trigger and incite the DCUM populace with a seemingly genuine and authentic post. But think about it - who would care enough to post this comment? what would any answer provide back to the OP?

I assume OP is also 26 or 27. That means she just started her law job, presumably at Biglaw. What she fails to grasp is that her miserable life has just begun. Sure, she makes a lot more money than them now, but her future involves either (1) Biglaw chewing her up and spitting her out and making her feel dejected and unworthy and bitter or (2) making it in Biglaw and working her ass off doing mindless and unfulfilling work for the next 40 years while sacrificing any semblance of a rich and balanced life for money.

OP, check back with us in 10 years and let us know which miserable path you took.

Not cool to judge anyone’s journey because there’s no much we don’t know.

So much we don’t know

Nice how the vandy and ucla kids put OP down for SLAC while also obviously beinf jealous of OP’s situation. More to life than your degree. And top 30 LAC as good and arguably better school than vandy and ucla.

I went to a small liberal arts school and then a top 5 law school. I love my job. I make tons more than them - but who cares.

They both felt like something was wrong with the world. They both said a person who went to a school like mine (to 30 LAC) should not be doing better than a Vanderbilt or ucla grad. Are they correct? Were they sold a bill of goods?

What a transparently fake post.

So they trashed your alma mater to your face? Perhaps that's a little insight as to why no one is tripping over themselves to hire these two.

Seems like the typical troll thread started by an LAC huckster. The key is that the poster will name the National University that he/she denigrates, but never names the magical LAC/SLAC which only required an additional 3 years of law school in order to get a decent job.

Pathetic that a "top 5 law school grad" compares himself to a twenty something with just an undergraduate degree. Hard to believe that such a successful lawyer would stoop so low to promote an imaginary top 30 LAC/SLAC.

Not comparing myself to them. Just surprised:

1. How bitter they were about jobs.

2. That they flat out said they felt cheated because they had gone to vandy and ucla.

3. How they trashed my lac to my face.

That’s all.

OP didn't say SLAC. T30 LAC. I didn't read it as a comparison between undergrad and law school.
Their point was very clear to me. The outcomes are not guaranteed, so be careful of what you spend on your undergrad. There are other paths that can lead to successful careers too.
It's natural to feel bitter when you spend ~350k and get a job that's below your expectations. So, be prepared for that outcome, so you can manage your bitterness and find ways to make your situation better.
The outcomes are not guaranteed either way, so there is no need for an obsession in regards to admissions. What you do when you get in there is going to be more valuable.

Both also said “this is why everyone in our generation is a socialist.”

Whatever. Time to get back to real life. Will just keep trucking alone and voting trump.

+1 OP’s comparison is no different then saying went to a public HS and is a happy heart surgeon now, but met 2 private school HS kids working at Starbucks who didn’t like their jobs- so why do so many go to private high schools?
