Yeah not sure why we keep electing others who are useless and just rubber stamp everything MCPS does

When has Julie Yang voted against something MCPS proposed?

But at least she’s the only one who questions MCPS. Others don’t even ask questions about these dramatic changes.

The fact that she's the best on the BOE says a lot about the BOE. I think Julie is going to have a hard time winning her council seat.

Who else will run?

So they are trying to push her out?

That's not what I've observed.

I definitely observe that is the outcome, but why is that the case? What leverage does MCPS/BOE have over newcomers that buys their silence and complicity in the ongoing dysfunction and failure?

She asks decent questions and then accepts whatever garbage answer MCPS staffers give her without holding them or Taylor truly accountable.

Asking questions and then agreeing is putting on a show.

I hope not. They all need to go, especially Brenda and Karla. Karla should not be working at MC as an MCPS liaison as it’s a huge conflict of interest and probably why they push kids to Mc vs having classes at the schools.

How is that even ethically possible for Karla Silvestre? I get that a salary of 25k as an McPs board member isn’t enough to make a living but that is a massive conflict of interest.

Silvestre recuses herself from any board votes relating to MC, and the relationship between MCPS and MC has been in place long before she was on the board. If voters disapprove, they are of course free to vote for her opponents.

She recuses herself from voting on the operating budget? Really?

It’s the actual job that’s the issue. And, how does she get that much time off to do board work during the day?

Is being a MCPS board member meant to be a full time job? Not at 25k a year to be sure.
