Flash Flood in Texas,

If we have people to do that.

There was a flash flood watch and then a warning. The meteorologists did their job.

This river was very well known to flood. So decision-makers were aware of the possibility.

It comes down to paying for and installing the means of warning people. Clearly that fell short.

There is absolutely data that is indicating that precipitation events are increasing in frequency and ferocity. Even if the government takes down all the data sets and try to hide them, there's research that's already been done and much of the data was captured before they took it away.

As has been pointed out by other posters, it doesn't matter if you try to obscure it or hide it or pretend that it's not happening. The data indicates otherwise and it's happening whether you pay any attention to protect your family from it or not.

And you and I and all of us paid for the collection of this data. It belongs to us and we should demand that we have access to it.

Just a reminder that flooding is a major cause of death from natural disasters in DCUMland.

That's up to the camp owners, and by extension the city/county to oversee. Is there good cell coverage at the camp?

Leave it to dcum to turn dozens of girls drowning in a flood into a political debate.

Of course there is climate change data indicating more flooding. That does not mean the meteorologists knew on Thursday that things would rise to the historic level it did.

You should see X/Twitter. MAGA conspiracy theorists claiming this event is impossibly severe and the Dems had something to do with it.

AND the alerts went out at 4/5 am when most were asleep.

AND how many of us have received a flash flood warning and simply ignored it?

It's a tragedy. A horrifying tragedy. Don't look away from it. Look at it, understand it and try to protect us all from the future weather catastrophes. There's nothing political about that.

This is how fast it can happen.

That video is so scary. The poor girls and their families. I can’t believe how little they look in their photos. I wouldn’t send a daughter that little to sleepaway. Not because I could predict flash flooding, but they just seem too little to go away. I know “it’s normal” in some families to send kids away that small, but that’s too little.

Because I receive them every time it rains. It's just noise now.
