Boar's Head. Bar-b-q sauce and grilled. |
I'm not a DC local, but when making at home we get wagyu dogs from a local butcher, or at least a kosher dog, and my favourite way to fancy them up a bit is this Wolfgang Puck recipe

I saw a tv show featuring a hot dog shop that split the hot dogs lengthwise, then made cross hatches with a knife on both sliced side. They grilled the hot dogs to sear the cross hatched sides. We did it last July 4th, and my kids loved them.
It’s called the butterfly technique here https://www.thekitchn.com/the-best-way-to-grill-hot-dogs-23177720 |
Italian sausage cooked in beer and onions and then grilled. |

Ikea veggie dog with pickled cabbage and grilled onions and mustard |
PP already talked about this. |
Hebrew national grilled, toasted potato bun, spicy mustard, pickled red onions. With a side of pasta salad (suck it, haters).

I bought Nathan's for tomorrow. Will put mustard, onion and relish on. Bought Pepperidge Farm buns (I will never understand the brioche hot dog/burger bun trend -- buns need to soak up and counter the grease of the meat, not add a bunch of fat to the situation).
To me, hot dogs are just never going to make me happy here so it doesn't matter much. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and to me the ultimate hot dog is a char dog from Weiner's Circle (at 2am). Everything on it that goes on a Chicago dog -- especially the celery salt. |
Hebrew National, grilled, with Pommery Meaux mustard and maybe a bit of relish. I only eat the bun if I’m in public.
Side would be my own homemade potato salad. |

Oof, not after that disgusting report from a few years ago. I bought Sabrett yesterday because it was the only brand left (late to do my shopping) and they were delicious. |
Costco brand all beef hot dogs.
Unless you're in Chicago and can get Vienna Beef. |
Do you really think anyone reading this believes hot dogs are healthy? What? Are you going to tell us next? Smoking is bad? So people want to have a hot dog once in a while. |
I'm not picky about brands, but the best toppings are mustard, chili, and Cole slaw. |
