It’s not in DC or NYC. And Space Center Houston already has a full scale replica shuttle. Why do we need to spend $300-$400 million on this?

The Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Annex at Dulles is essentially DC. Hair-splitting only makes you look stupid.

The space shuttle Enterprise is in NYC aboard the Intrepid aircraft carrier museum on the Hudson River.

So yes, there are shuttles on display in DC and NYC.

And neither city has any really meaningful connection to the shuttle program. I’m sorry your obstinance and hatred of anything Trump keeps you from seeing that. I hate Trump more than you do, I guarantee, but I don’t let it cloud my judgment and force me into ridiculous indefensible positions like you are allowing.

The shuttles belong in places relevant to the shuttle program.

California
Texas
Florida
Alabama

This cannot continue. There is going to be a civil war, of that I'm certain.

Yes, the keyboard commandos freaking out since the orange man was elected are definitely going to waddle out of their air conditioned homes to take up arms against the oppressors.

But it would be on brand for MAGA not to be able to afford AC.

Sounds like something enshrined in the constitution. You should get on top of making sure we have national air conditioning coverage

They actually have HVAC assistance in the south, just like heating assistance in the north. But I’m sure BBB is killing all that.

So is Trump meaning to imitate Biden?

Has his hate turned to love, like a Greek tragedy?

Build Back Better -> BBB <- Big Beautiful Bill

It’s a Smithsonian museum that was designed to hold the space shuttle. Of course we have bigger problems than this so why on earth do we need to spend $400 million, which could solve a lot of problems, for this boondoggle?

Other than California, the wealth to build the space shuttles came from other states. And the decision to build it, allocate money came from NASA HQ in DC.

Also it’s not like the Texas House and Senate delegations needed any convincing to vote for this disaster.

The BBB and this administration is defunding and destroying NASA. So it makes sense to remove the space shuttle from the Smithsonian and mothball it in Texas, with the rest of obsolete space program.

They were cheering the destruction of renewable energy, saying it is harming their state. Do they live in Opposite Land? Are they really that stupid?

It's totally appropriate for the Smithsonian to have a Space Shuttle. But I could see sniveling politicians like Ted Cruz insisting the federal government spend $500 million to move a shuttle to Texas. I don't know how they'd do it though. We don't have 747s anymore that can piggyback a shuttle. But I can see Republicans retrofitting Air Force 1 for this purpose while Trump enjoys the luxury of the new Qatari Air Force 1. Ted Cruz, John Conryn and the Texas delegation would be all over that.

Good point. Government run space exploration is over anyhow.

Except for it being, you know, the seat of Government. AND that it is an AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM. Are you always this dumb?

It's not like NASA will really exist as it has after Republicans get through with it anyhow. Best not to have reminders of lost hope around.

Sorry this is the aim of the Republicans. It will all be privatized.
