NY Mayor race: what does Jessica Tisch do?

Anonymous
She could run like Bloomberg. But at this time, they need to get organized to beat Independent and Republican nominees. You may think no way a Republican could win....but look at who is in the WH, again.

Those of you interested in an independent candidate who’s not the current Mayor should look into Jim Walden https://jimfornyc.com/

I’m also worried about Cuomo running in the general and mucking things up further.

The more independent candidates that enter, the easier it becomes for Mamdani to win. He got 43% of the friggin vote and a good chunk of Lander supporters will go to Mamdani.

Adams (Independent) and Silwa (GOP) are appealing to the same voter - the blue-collar outer borough conservative, the generationally wealthy UES WASPs, and anxious Jewish voters on the UWS - they will split that group.

Cuomo is apparently weighing whether he enters the race as an independent; I bet he doesn't and he won't have the money men again. The billionaires who backed Cuomo need to find someone who effectively can reset the race and convince Adams & Silwa to drop out.

I guarantee there is an immense amount of external pressure on Tisch to enter the race. She would overturn the apple cart and it basically becomes a fresh election. But its not clear to me if she wants that level of attention. She's never run for office and - unlike Bloomberg back in the 90s - seems to keep a low-key profile.

Otherwise, the billionaire boys club needs to find a headline grabbing name that comes into the race with a huge amount of name recognition.

Bill Ackman is looking into this according to his tweets today.

Sliwa is not going to drop out - he’s the Republican nominee. And I seriously doubt that anyone can get Adams to drop out although there may be an amount of money big enough since he’s a corrupt POS.

I only wish. I will probably write in Adrienne Adams since I refuse to vote for Mamdani, Sliwa, or Eric Adams.

Tisch, the billionaire heir to the Loews hotel and real estate fortune, can easily self fund her campaign and would have credibility as an independent candidate. The accolades and endorsements from the billionaire and Establishment political classes would pour in. Her entrance in the campaign would also soothe the anxieties of Jewish New Yorkers (and those that have made the move down to Florida in recent years).

This could be the recipe of a blockbuster media matchup:

Mamdani, the telegenic Muslim son of immigrants, social media wunderkid, and political neophyte

vs.

Tisch, the Jewish daughter of real estate magnates, heiress to a multibillion fortune, and long time & deeply connected NYC civil servant (albeit with a wooden personality)

This campaign would be the acute distillation of all the stresses running through our society right now: billionaires vs W2 workers, religious conflict, social media popularity vs traditional political coalition building.

Does Jessica Tisch toss her hat in the ring?

Mandan’s wife is also practicing Muslim?

Mamdani is Muslim and pro-Palestine, making him unpopular with Jews, even Democrat Jews
