Are they still planning to rename some of the schools listed here?

That would be confusing because North Bethesda Middle School doesn’t feed into Richard Montgomery HS, and NBMS actually is in Bethesda.

Oh god, if they ever decide to rename Blair to "Four Corners High School", then that'd be a dreading name, heck it'd sound boring. I know it's hard to determine what'd be a good rename for Blair because it connects to both Silver Spring and Takoma Park and there'd be some debate on how the renaming process of the school goes.

Why not just rename John Poole MS to Poolesville MS?

One of the most surprising parts of his research, Buglass said, was learning that there was a stronger connection between slavery and Montgomery Blair. According to the report, Blair has a “complex, even contradictory legacy” because he had argued for the freedom of an enslaved man in the U.S. Supreme Court case Dred Scott v. Sandford, but strongly opposed equal rights for Blacks after the Civil War.

Buglass said that through looking at census records in Missouri, where the Blair family lived before moving to their country estate – which was called Silver Spring at the time – he found that Blair was listed as enslaving one person in 1850.

Some takes for renaming any of the schools listed, and some I was always wished that they had to rename at some points. Honestly, just go ahead and disagree with some of them.

Poolesville HS --> Thomas Plater (lawyer from Maryland who died in Poolesville)
Richard Montgomery HS --> Hungerford (named after one of Rockville's earliest names)
Montgomery Blair HS --> Francis Preston Blair (person who owned most of the land in Silver Spring at the time, also would still be fitting because his last name is Blair, so it wouldn't be too much of a problem either)
Magruder HS --> Derwood-Redland (no idea with this one to be honest, it's really hard because Muncaster would've been a good idea but considering he also was kinda involved in slavery, it's difficult to determine Magruder's renaming)

Some other high schools that I would've considered that aren't on the list, and based on other posters here.
Rockville HS --> Rock Creek (I actually kinda like this one, it fits more than just naming it Rockville, since it's right by Rock Creek).
Walt Whitman HS --> Clara Barton (Some other parts in where Whitman is served in Bethesda honor Barton, and I think it'd be better to name it after Barton instead of Whitman)

I'm confused. Did Henson agree to have James Blake HS named after him (meaning, Henson)? He has been dead for decades.

In a straw poll actually, it was between naming it Jim Henson and James Blake. Jim Henson won the deal, but the Henson Foundation declined the offer, so that led to the school being named James Hubert Blake HS instead. The school opened about almost a decade after Henson's death anyway.
