Interesting and congrats. We were hoping for a modest discount and got nothing.

I know two govt employees (yes still working) with a kid at a Big3 and they said they get like $20k.

My guess is they make maybe $300k combined.

Only one income and a Sahm. Sahm counts against us. Not sure by how much.

Why should you get aid if one able adult in your family chooses not to work. So not fair to dual income parents paying full price.

It’s not all about you.

I'm not the poster but it's a fairness question. Assuming the SAHM is able to work, then it should count against you in financial aid calculations--a stay at home spouse is a luxury.

It should count against you completely. Why the F am I working to support a SAHM? WTF? Get a job.

What are the big 3?

The private school I teach in seems to have everything from true middle class/upper middle class families (those earning about 100-200K in a major city) to many making millions. Supposedly we give about half of families some aid. I don't know how the school makes it all work, tbh, nor do I understand how people afford the tuition which is around 40K. Even more, I don't understand how my fellow teachers afford to send their kids to the school. I know they get some amount of aid, but heck, even if they just pay 10K a year, that's a whole heck of a lot of $$$. I wouldn't do it, but everyone has to decide for themselves.

You should be embarrassed to take it away from kids who need it.

If you have a SAHM/F just use public and/or homeschool and save $200k.

Microschools are picking up too, Alpha (new private school expanding across US that is getting rave reviews) has a microschool option. Haven’t seen much data on if kids attending microschools are accepted into competitive colleges at the same rate but I’d imagine it would be aligned with homeschooling acceptance rates at a minimum?

Would you turn down a 50K salary increase from your employer because other coworkers need it more? FWIW, my family didn't ask for financial aid, it was given to us.

I’m confused. Why did you receive any aid?

I find private schools to be majorly icky.

It seems to me that it is all about a SAHM taking a handout and not working.
