I would argue that lack of enforcement isn’t really good for criminals either because they end up committing increasingly worse crimes and eventually facing worse consequences.

As of a couple days ago, thus far this year DC had 79 murders, Baltimore had 59, NYC had 118, and Boston had 12.

Boston has almost as many people as DC and New York has more than 10x as many people.

So we have a long way to go before we start heralding DC as a safe city.
