100% this.

Accepted in last cycle to Michigan and Vanderbilt (didn't apply to the others).
Took Calc AB senior year.
Humanities major.

Thanks!

Pre-med is not a major. What major?

Pre-health, Biology, etc. Depends on the school and what people on the pre med track typically take.

You need strong math and science.

DD got into Michigan and UVA Engineering, not Calc BC. She's at an IB school, took Math HL I and II. School offers AP Calc BC but it is very hard to fit it in an IB schedule.

We inquired with the AOs at VT, UVA and USC and they all said IB Math HL is enough. DD didn't get into USC engineering though.

Assume taking 12th grade advanced science/electives too? Bio is a very popular and competitive major….consider a diff major? Pre-med can major in anything - esp at those caliber schools.
What ECs? What electives?

Did you submit sat for uva engineering?

Mine took Calc BC as a junior and is applying as a physics major to a SLAC. AO for her pre-read advised that Calc BC was more than sufficient.

AB is usually okay for these schools especially if it’s accompanied by a high SAT math score and strong AP score.

However, for an engineering/STEM (including bio), I would advise BC.

How so? OP here, should have stated we are OOS.

Pay no attention to that poster. UVA is a trigger school on DCUM. Obviously UVA (especially OOS) is a peer of all of these schools admissions wise.

Just laughed out loud...

Accepted Michigan and Vanderbilt. Waitlisted UVA (in state). Took Calc BC as a junior with an A and 5 on the AP test. Took Multivariable as a senior.
