What’s new since 20 years ago is you can take the Elizabeth Line into the city, and you just tap and pay to ride (at every Underground station).

Yeah first time I flew to Europe was on a 6 PM flight. Ever since have been able to book ones leaving after 9 PM, makes a big difference. Hard when they reschedule you though, not many options.
