Trump says he may ‘have to force’ interest rate change in attack on Powell

Powell does not want to appear to “bend the knee”” to Trump. Bond yields are dropping forecasting a rate cut.

Maybe just maybe Powell's a professional who doesn't depend on image and social media likes to determine policy.

Tough to fathom, i know, with the pantheon of clowns we have now running this country

And maybe Trump should pay attention to other parts of his job for now like international relations.

Do you think it means Trump will have him arrested or just removed as chair?

Rambling 80 year old nonsense. We're used to this by now.

Too bad the 80 year old is tanking the economy and our country along with it. If he fires the head of the Fed, the markets (particularly the bond market which is traditionally not volatile) will be spooked as investors assume the guard rails are completely gone.

I don’t like what Trump is doing across the board.

But there is no evidence the economy is “tanking” as you say. The last employment report was stronger than expected, bond yields are behaving, stock market is near an all time high. Where is the “tanking” ?
