Donald Trump has called Federal Reserve chair Jay Powell a “numbskull” for not cutting interest rates, saying the White House may “have to force something” if the US central bank does not reduce borrowing costs.

If Trump would just lay-off, then Powell probably would cut the rates b/c all the inflation reports are down. But, Powell is probably resistant b/c Trump keeps criticizing him on SM. Powell does not want to appear to “bend the knee”” to Trump. Bond yields are dropping forecasting a rate cut.

Orange man cannot fire him and if he ever tries to mess with it then markets will sink 20% instantly, and Treasury will shoot up to 8% to match Junk bond yields. Now that said other Banana republic govts have done crazy things like the El Salvador president I think made crypto his national currency, so yeah it's possible. But let him do it and make the US into another El Salvador, we will all crash and burn along with the maga idiots and the so called anti-socialists who couldn't stand Harris.

“Too late Powell” got Trump elected because inflation raged in the latter part of the Biden/Harris administration. If he had cut rates in the Spring of 24 like he should have it might have been a totally different outcome.
