not sure what you're trying to say but I'm fairly certain you're wrong. UMiami was ranked #38 by USNWR in 2011. UMiami was ranked #49 by USNWR in 2021. |
meant to say that in 2025, Tulane and Miami were tied, despite 50 years of Tulane being ranked higher than Tulane every year but 2011. Historically Tulane has been ranked higher than Miami. Not by much. Same with Pepperdine. 2021 - Tulane 42, Pepperdine & Miami 49, 2022 - Tulane 41, Pepperdine 49, Miami not top 50 Jump to 2025: Miami 63, Tulane 63, Pepperdine 80 |
It just sounds like you and all your cousins have been wrong about Miami. |
Maybe so….the funny thing is that the Miami grads of the family coincidentally are the ones not doing as well as the Tulane and Pepperdine grads in the family. |
Funny. The Miami grads in our family are living their best lives. Outside of family connections, I don't believe that college rank correlates to career success or "doing well", at least not beyond the top top colleges. |
Confirmation bias. |
No correlation of success at colleges ranked in the 40s - 60s. |
Wow you are a horrible parent. FEMA will be gone and you are sending a kid to Tulane LOL All three of these are in red states, College students have sex, women need gyns and healthcare, yes you are a fool. |
california is 🔵 |
Oh my god....do you realize Pepperdine is in California right? And New Orleans is the bluest city in the South? and Miami is.....well...Miami.... |
Miami is a great school. I would pick Miami in a second if offered at all 3, then I would pick Pepperdine (Malibu is great) and Tulane 3rd. If your kid is that t50 or so Private Range, money is not a problem for your family, then you cant go wrong with either one of the 3. Miami: 33% of kids submitted SAT (1400 Median) vs 13% at Tulane (1450 Median) and 18% at Pepperdine (1370 Median). 19% of Miami kids submitted ACT, while 28% at Pepperdine. Miami Class Size - 2,473 (45% Men / 55% Women) Tulane - 1,838 (37% Men / 63% Women) Pepperdine - 843 (42% Men / 58% Women) Demographics: White/Hispanic/Black/Asian/International Miami - 50% / 26% / 4% / 5% / 7% Tulane - 64% / 12% / 6% / 5% / 6% Pepperdine - 40% / 22% / 4% / 14% / 9% For some reason I thought Pepperdine was really white...I guess the Hispanics at Pepperdine look whiter than the Hispanics at Miami? Like the OP, I have had kids and family attend all 3. FOr those worried or concerned about spoiled kids there, well, They all have their fair share of wealthy students. But Pepperdines top 5% is on another stratosphere of wealth. Different than Miami where the top is also ultra wealthy. Miami kids are definitely more showy while Pepperdine kids a more down to earth, even if they are driving a 911 around Malibu. Tulane has the highest avg high income families, but their top is nowehere near the Top at Pepperdine and Miami. |
A lot more Asians and Internationals at Pepperdine. |
Miami is just 7% international….and Pepperdine just 40% white? I know this comes from CDS, but if you have walked around each campus, you would have a hard time estimating these numbers…..Pepperdine when we toured and walked around looked 70% white…Miami looked like way more than 7% international. I know these are undergrad numbers, and maybe that is why Miami felt more international (I think their Grad population is way more international). |
I have a Kid at Pepperdine. And you are right. Although the CDS data says 40% white, it looks more like 70% white. Asians look right. But I guess the “Hispanics”attending these schools might have a Hernandez or Gomes last name, but I can tell you would have thought they were white…..
Yes yes I know I’m a horrible person for stereotyping the look of someone. But there is no denying the “hispanics”at places like Pepperdine have an ethnic make up different than the avg “Hispanic”attending CSU campuses. |
