Plus many had back breaking work and/or worked very long hours. Or worked on farms. So getting up at the crack of dawn and getting as much done while there was daylight and then going to sleep when it got dark was the norm. |
| Yes, when there is no power and work was closed. |

Easily: but then I am 50 and lived without it most of my life. I need it for work and have avoided getting a BB. Last time I didn't look at it was last Saturday. Too busy doing other things.
I would do without it even more, but I like downloading books from the library. So while not on the internet, I am still using the computer to read. |

| I don't use the internet on weekends, so of course. |

Yes. Many weekends I don't go on at all. I WAH and pack up my work computer Friday evening.
Occassionally, I use it on my iphone--esp if I need naviagation, etc. However, some weekends I don't use the Internet at all. During the week--it's constant. |

We are Orthodox Jewish and dont use our computers, phones, TVs, or other electrical appliances from sundown Fri to sundown Sat every week. Also on the holidays, as we have been having lately, we also adhere to these rules. So, last week and this week, no electronic equpiment from Wed night until Sat night.
I'm used to it so it doesnt really phase me, but the minute I am allowed, the TV and computer go right on. |
Me, too. I used to be so much more productive ~7 years ago, when all we had in the house was a PC in the attic. Now every time I think I'm about to do a chore, I take a break as I'm walking past the laptop ... |
| Last week. I do it all the time. I have Comcast and it goes out all the time. So I often go 24 hours without internet (if it goes out on days I don't work). |
| I work from home as an IT manager and yes, I can definitely live without internet for a day- especially on the weekends! I stare at the damn computer all day for an entire week and having an internet, computer free day is actually kinda nice. |
| I went 2.5 months without internet when I moved overseas. In a way, it was refreshing (I got a lot more done around the house). On the other hand, it's nearly impossible to do anything these days without internet access (as in, shop online when you're overseas. LOL!) |

Yes, I often go most of the weekend without it. I might check the weather before heading outside with the kids, but I could get that via tv or radio if I had to, and wanted to wait 5-30 minutes for the right information to cycle around again. Addresses/ driving directions... hmm... what were those crinkly paper things we used to keep in our cars? And that unwieldy yellow book? Internet's better, imho.
Just today, in casual conversation, I pulled out my blackberry to check a fact, and we all laughed about "wow, people must have been misinformed a lot before the internet... oh, wait..." It's funny, but true. The internet spreads misinformation faster than the real thing. |
