Sssh don’t tell the people in Dc that all of the DMV privates rank outside of the top 20 nationwide.

Do a search on College Confidential. They posted Lawrenceville scattergram in the past years there.
For example, this one: https://us1.discourse-cdn.com/collegeconfidential/original/3X/2/7/278ca4f97beb703c28642ae1fa854e3178c00ac5.png
It seems like 3.73 / 1550 has no chance for top colleges. But they are using weighted GPA I believe in the scattergram (up to 4.xxx).
If 3.73 is unweighted, you can convert it into weighted then look up the scattergram.

I’m really surprised he hasn’t had more guidance from their college counseling staff. He’s a rising senior?

NP. Lawrenceville is not "whatever random school." Lol

Seriously. Any of the so-called Big 3 schools in DC are at best on par with Lawrenceville, prestige-wise.

lol. No. Lawrenceville is much more prestigious.

According to whom? Niche ranks Sidwell #11 nationally, and Sidwell has better name recognition than most of the schools ranked #1-10.

Than post your alternative private high school ranking lists. Put up or shut up.

We don’t need alternative rankings to know that Niche is trash.

Troll? Lawrenceville is one of the wealthiest and most expensive schools in the country. I’m sure they have top college counseling.

Talk to the counselors at Lawrenceville. They should be excellent. Your kid really should be doing this themselves, but if you need to contact them and set up a meeting.

Have your student talk to their teachers and especially those who study what your kid wants to learn in college. They may have ideas of where to apply/might know someone/etc. One of my favorite teachers at my private high school gave me ideas of great programs in the field I wanted to study.

I think it also depends what your kid wants to study/if you need scholarship money or will be full paying, etc.

Has your child done any visits? What year are they? Are they doing internships this summer in the field they want to study?

So maybe search these threads and see what people with gaps and scores like that at those schools aim for.

Or Sidwell or STA parents, speak up and tell OP what those stats might mean for students at your school.

Lawrenceville is far more prestigious than any DMV private. Lawrenceville is a top 10 private school in the US, top 5 among boarding schools.

Sorry, no.

In other words, you have nothing to offer besides your useless opinion. 🤣

ED to a SLAC where full pay matters that isn’t top 5. Maybe Hamilton, bates, Colby? Could reach to middlebury?

Middlebury is having financial issues. I’d be cautious of it.

+2 I am sure academics are great, but no better than a DC Big 3. Lawrenceville is for kids who have disengaged parents. They are too busy with their own lives to parent their children or work on their relationships. Send them away! I know 3 DC kids that went to Lawrenceville over the last 5-6 years. All were smart, but struggling socially in middle school at their private school or had rocky relationships with their mothers. IYKYK
