Graduation cords

I am all for celebrating the kids but it has gotten a bit out of hand. There seem to be so many obscure honor societies and its not even clear how to join them.

Mine was eligible for a bunch, but couldn't be bothered to fill out any of the forms or jump through any of the hoops.

So they were top 5% of their class (per the Governor's Award), but had no honor societies. Ultimately, none of it mattered. They were smart enough to figure that out early, I guess?

Good for them. Did anyone comment about it?

Summer Rise? Even though they don't have enough room for all the kids and the ones that do it are randomly selected?

What does that matter? They successfully completed the program.

I'm from flyover country where there are no trendy graduation accessories.

This post totally explains why my son's high school summer study abroad provider sent him a beautiful tri-color cord 9 months after he completed the program.

I think they missed graduation by a few days too.

Our school has just a 1-3 cord system based on GPA. All the cords are the same color.
