It had a different name for 100 years prior to being named Milk. I think the Milk name will be temporary.

And who cares? Not every single thing needs to be made into an LGBT celebration. It's okay for the military to commemorate notable military people. It's better, in fact, so that new service members can find good role models and learn their history.

You think the Navy is sailing a 100+ year old oiler? What kind of moron are you?

Also, Milk was a notable military person.

You are wrong.

He is a notable person because of his activism.
He served in the military.

He is not notable because he served in the military.

It was an odd choice for the name of the ship.

You are moving the goalposts. There are many navy ships named for people who are notable for reasons other than serving in the military.

But I do like that now, if a ship is ever named the Donald Trump, democrats will have precedent to immediately change the name.

Nobody cares about Pride Month anymore. Put your clothes back on and get out of the street.

To my gay friends, if you ever thought that perhaps republicans had moved on a didn’t hate you anymore, yes they do still hate you.

This and you know he knows it too.

They hate so many-let's be clear they only like "straight" white men and only if they are "christian".

To pwn the libs. It’s their primary goal.

Hundred bucks says they rename the USS John S. McCain as well.

Well kegbreth is in talks of renaming the Harriet Tubman as well. And yes she was a decorated war hero.

Tubman at least makes sense as a notable military figure.

No issue is too petty for this administration. Gulf of America--really? My concern is that so much attention is given to these issues that other, more bread-and-butter issues, are neglected.

It shouldn’t have even named after Milk in the first place, that’s why. He was in a relationship with a 16 year old boy! Nope.

Agree 100%.

It was a false statement by a PP who alleged “Milk was a notable military person.”

That is as ridiculous as trying to claim this guy was “notable for his military service” (prior to getting elected):

If Democrats want to remove Jefferson and Columbus and Lincoln names of statues and schools because of some newly discovered information or their past "transgressions" are now too much to accept today, then Harvey Milk also has to go, out of the "abundance of caution" - Democrat words.

Plenty of evidence of his underrage debauchery with a 16 year old, which today is a crime. According to Democrat logic, he needs to be de-emphasized or deplatformed despite his contributions to society (see: Columbus/Jefferson/Lincoln)
