Different kids freak out about different stuff. My 10 year old likes Goosebumps, cryptids, and creepy stuff generally. But anything with an even mildly weird mask, including some photos of carved ones from other cultures? NOPE. Get it out of the house and never mention it again. |
My kid is not desensitized to violence in movies and TV because we limit a lot of that stuff, and also she's a sensitive kid anyway (she will refuse to watch even some Disney movies because they are too scary).
But I think she *is* tough, even though she is sensitive to violence. She's hard working and very determined when she is motivated towards something. There are different kinds of tough, OP, and the kind you are talking about isn't particularly impressive to me. |
Are they over 2-3 years old? If so, no surprise. |
Reminds me of when my uncle took my cousins to see "The Shining" in the theatre. He laughed for years about how nothing scared them, except the twin girls in the hallway. Said they got completely psyched out about them for some reason and would joke about how freaky they looked for years later. They would have been about 4 or 5 at the time. |
You have the coolest, most twisted uncle ever. Taking 5 year olds to see the shining. |
Yeah, some people rock at being parents. ![]() |
Gen Z takes the cake on all things that are bad. They are owed everything and need to contribute nothing because doing so will ruin their mental health. I’m with them on climate change though! |
🙄 oh good. I was waiting for Larlo’s dad to enter the chat. Please regale us with stories about how determined Larlo climbed a mountain (small hill) in Birkenstocks and didn’t give up on her bread recipe despite using too much salt. |
I got into this thing on Instagram about people being pulled over for simple traffic violations and end up getting arrested. There were a lot of females in the 18 - 25 year old age group. The cop would come up to the window and the girl would be on her phone. She would start yelling at the cop, refusing all directions, misstating the law. She would end up getting arrested. She would start screaming Don’t Touch Me! And GIVE ME MY PHONE! NOW!! CALL MY DAD! They only showed the bad clips so you can’t tell what percentage of this age group acts like this. But they were eerily similar. They all demanded their phones, they all screamed, they all wanted mom or dad called to help them get out of it, they all screamed about not touching them. They were all arrested due 100% to their refusal to show ID and it escalated from there. It was eye opening. |
Exactly. I read that this generation gets high anxiety when it comes to talking to their own friends on the phone. |
That's gone on forever, there was just no way to record and share it until modern day. 100 years ago, if people had iPhones, you would have seen the exact same thing. |
