Agree. I drink wine frequently, but would not even take a sip of a rose. Yuck ! |
This - do an Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir. except the New Zealand part. I think wines from Spain and Australia tend to be better than the U.S. ones at the same price point. If they are actual wine drinkers, do not do a Rose. That is wine for people who do not actually like wine. |

I have my sommelier certification, and I disagree that “rose is for people who don’t actually like wine.” That said, I do think you need more than one wine available. At a minimum you should have a white and a red, though adding a rosé won’t hurt either. For rosé I might suggest The Beach by Whispering Angel, rather than Whispering Angel itself. The Beach is a bit more structured, more of a food wine.
For reds, a California Cab Sauv please a wider variety of palates than some of the more obscure bottles, and perhaps a Chablis for your white (same grape as Chardonnay but from France and unoaked, and oakiness is the most divisive quality of a chard). |
Actually that was a helpful response. Beer goes better with bbq, beer/wine both ok with cookout. -np |
