| Welcome to the real world of soccer. Our team plays in every condition, even hail. We only delay (not cancel) for lightening. I think most using turf fields are the same. |
| We definitely play on turf in this weather. Only cancellations are for lightning or if it is raining and in the 30s. |
ššš This policy is perfection to develop kids who do not use weather as an excuse! This should be the real world of life! |
Our Northern VA club is practicing today. |
| My boys practices have cancelled. They rarely cancel for weather (besides lighting) but the turf fields canāt drain fast enough and are too flooded/water logged. |
|
We always practiced if it were turf fields.
Lightning or storms- no. But regular cold raināyes always had practice and games on turf. FWIW- this is English soccer weather most of the Fall/winter. |
Same ! And when my kids were at Barca Academy the Spanish coaches could not believe-understand we had to stop for lightning at Evergreen. They said in Spain they have lightning rods at all the fields - keep playing. lol Kids also practiced at 28 degrees at night with light snowā¦until we told them itās actually ok to cancel for weather. We had gear for every condition . One of my kids loved the cold. The other the extreme heat.
|
^ they keep playing. They didnāt tell us to keep playing in lightning once explained
|
It's not going to be canceled. That's why they practice on turf. Bring a towel. They'll be fine. |

Omg. I loved the mud as a kidāpre-turf fields. I remember games in it too where the ball would get stuck and weād be kicking the sh@t out of itāslide tackling in mud was the best. Then you let your shoes dry and the next day smack them hard together to watch the dried mud in shape of cleats come off.
āGirl who played travel soccer in the 80s. |
Itās not even the cold November/December rain ! When itās 40 degrees and blowing sideways
|
Weirdo |
She said she was new. Sheās just asking a question. Why are you denigrating her? |
| The benefit of turf is the weather doesnt usually effect it. Except when they cant clear the snow. |
| My kid walked off the field after practice last night soaking wet with a big smile on their face. The kids like playing in the rain. |
