New to travel.
Our practice today is at a turf field in moco. I don’t wanna not send my kid because I want to show commitment but do they literally practice when it’s been pouring all day if it’s supposed to continue ( like today)? |
| U13 if it matters |
| No wrong weather, only wrong gear, particularly if it is on turf. S/he is going to train in much worse conditions |
Rumor is you should ask your team because each team has their own way |
| Some of the best practices I've been part of were during the rain (not on turf) but you're just out there with your friends having a great time |
I’m Going to Wait til later in the day to ask. Just wondered what other travel teams do. |
They turf the fields so you can play in all weather. Also you play when its raining, so why wouldn't you practice when its raining? |
|
They usually hold practice unless it's thundering. The exception is in the winter when it's pouring rain and cold, like in the upper 30s. Mine have always had practice in rainy 50-60 degree weather. The kids do seem to like it.
It's kind of a good test of their commitment, in a way. If they only like practice when it's not raining, that's not enough interest for travel soccer. |
Thank you. Thats helpful. |

Eh, it’s just water! Better than 95 degrees and sunny imo.
But pro tip- bring a trash bag to put the backpack in. No one loves a soggy bag. |
| Check with the team's weather procedure. Typically, they will still practice if it rains and only cancels if there is forecastable thunder and lightening. |
| ITs the end of the season pretty much, almost everyone's games are over. Seems silly for kids to risk getting injured playing in the rain. |
You have so much to learn. |
My kid will be 😡 if our club cancels practice because of Earth’s natural condensation method which keeps us alive is naturally occurring and there is no lightning. We are on turf. Welcome to people making 🇺🇸 great. No, we are not orange but we don’t run at the sight of 🌧️. Your kid will thank you in 10 years when they enjoy 365 days regardless of weather versus only 250 days when it does not rain. Much better life. |
There is this little thing called FUN. 98% of the DCUM kids do not move fast enough to get injured. |
