This true about all news, especially the internet. Everything is about click bait and engagement.

There are endless fake news sites and aggregators who steal other journalists work and alter it.

Whatever the issue is, there are scammers trying to profit off your eyeballs or persuade you to feel or behave a certain way - troll farms exist for this reason.

I think there are a lot of content farms funded by either foreign interests. There's a kind of "template" look to these sites and I see them on both the right and the left.

These are kind of easy to clock for people who grew up with the internet. I'm more concerned that our actual journalism industry has essentially abdicated their code of professional ethics and will report lies and intentionally suppress the truth. I am sometimes misled by them about substantial issues. (For example, I kind of thought Russiagate might have some basis in fact, I thought the laptop might indeed be a Russian op, etc. Now when the media is saying there's nothing wrong in South Africa, and there's nothing weird about Biden's cancer, I'm like... 👍.)

There were indictments on Russian election interference and law enforcement said the laptop story had the signs if an op. And the hunter bribe “witness” admitted in court, under oath, that he lied to the FBI and was then charged for it.

They pretend to be general news sites, but:
* They appear to have the same web design code, and no branding of any kind.

* Almost all the articles are Trump resistance posts. They contain facts, but...

* They are plagiarized from WaPO etc without giving any credit or citing any sources

* They often post misleading headlines, like claiming to quote Trump but it's actually something an anti-Trump said about Trump.

* They hide info about their writers, who appear to be fake identities

* They are frequently posted to Reddit echo chamber subreddits, where people have long discussions about the false claims in the headline, and not about the actual facts.

Sounds like these sites are the work of an AI bot.

I do think that Russia attempts to get involved in our politics and we will see evidence of it at any given time. I do not believe that Trump is a Russian plant, which was the thesis of Russiagate.
