They did not say specifically, but she was last on air in December. She is quite close to Hoda who left TODAY in early January. She did not record a goodbye message for Hoda's last day like the rest of the team did. We now know why. He had an aggressive brain cancer, so you can surmise that yes diagnosed in December.

I think we all understand that there is some privilege involved in being able to not worry about how to pay the bills for months while caring for an ailing family member like this. But this does seem an odd place to air this sentiment.


It takes a "special" kind of person to post a "must be nice" response when learning a young family lost a loved one.

My father was diagnosed with cancer and died within 3 months when I was a kid. It is an awful thing for a child to go through. There is no “lucky” in this situation.

It really is. My family member had it 18 years ago. They don’t seem to be any closer to a cure. Just devastating.
