We did $25/hr when my kid did this a few years ago. It was after school activity driving and nowhere near 40 miles. More like 5-10.

So my 12yo has a sitter now driver. She’s been with us for 4 years so transitioned from sitter to basically just driving. Makes a very easy dinner sometimes as well.
She’s 19 now ( almost 20)
She drives DD once a week about 30 miles RT I think. She’s free to stay at location for the 90 mins or go do something and come back.
Total time is 2.5 hours. We pay $70 cash.
She uses her own car and takes the ICC

Same. It's a ton of miles on the car if it's daily.
