My kid was asked if she could do a driving job and she was asked what people are charging.
This would involve 2 hours of time and driving about 40 miles round trip in our car with my daughter paying for gas. I paid for this service a decade got bit would love if anyone could give me current rates for this service. |
| At least $30 an hour, given that driving is a risky business. You don't say how old your child is, but keep in mind that the teen and young adult group is the population that is most at risk for fatalities on the road. |
| I don’t understand what she is doing |
| More details needed. Is she driving kids? Cargo? Details matter. |
| Is this like delivering a package for someone? That sounds risky. It could be drug related. |
Wheelman for a bank robbery obviously. |
What’s a wheelman? |
Wtf is a driving job? And what service did you pay for a decade ago?? I’ve never heard of this. |
Working parents who pay someone to drive their children to and from camp, or to and from after school activities. It's actually a service that many working parents would love to have, but due to the hours, it's not feasible for many people to offer that service at a reasonable price. You need to make yourself available in the morning and afternoons, and can't easily hold down a second job, unless it's a remote, flexible one. Some parents end up paying for a nanny. |
Oh good Lord this is to deep to go for this joke, but nevertheless, a wheelman is the person who drives a getaway car after something like a bank robbery. I do not think OP's daughter is doing that, for the record. I think she's a drug mule (a person who acts as a courier for illegal drugs, before you ask) |

People assumed drug running?? lol I’m assuming neighbor kid is in a club sport or dance class across town after school and they need someone to drive there, wait, and drive them back.
I’d agree $30 am hour bc two hours is an inconvenient amount of time and then I’d have her figure out federal mileage rates - last I did mine it was 60 cents a mile. Could figure out round trip. |
I have visions of Orange is the new Black. But alas, this is much more tame. Driving one kid to a tutoring session and waiting to drive kid home. 2 Hours Time total. Nice kid, no issues there. 17 year old HS senior (so college bound). Sorry For the missing information. Thanks for the feedback |
| $60 2 hrs. |
With as many people who post looking for someone to drive their kids to sports practice, private School and other activities, I’m surprised that people are So confused. Years ago (a decade really), I paid a Kid who was going to the same practice as my kid $15 a trip. It was 10 minutes out of their way and the entire time together was 20 minutes. I guaranteed 4 trips per week regardless of cancelations. It wasn’t an easy service to get. If I had to find a substitute, I paid $20 for 40 minutes. (40 minutes was their door-door time - leave their house, pick up my kid, drive them to their sport, and go back to their house. I did not pay extra for their gas - my rate factored that in). I am not a fan of doing this but I remember needing this and realizing that without a driver my kid would not have e been able to participate so I want to be accommodating since My daughter is willing. Again thank you everyone. |
| What she charges for babysitting + $10/hour. My teen charges $15/hour for 2 kids, so it would be $25/hour to drive, but I wouldn't allow that, I would worry the kids would distract her. |
