Avoid cable news like the plague. Their profit motive is to keep you angry, not informed. |
My food pantry deliveries for my needy working families are getting cut and an extremely wealthy individuals are getting tax cuts. I can feel angry about that all by myself without anybody telling me how to feel |
AP news. It’s better than CNN |
This. And I’d add AP news. |
The Guardian. Excellent and free. they may ask you to register for free and you can donate money if you want, but it is otherwise free and a truly excellent online newspaper |
If you want good journalism that isn’t biased, skip. Especially now with ad nauseum discussion of Biden’s health and fitness, without any mention of Trump’s. https://css.seas.upenn.edu/new-york-times-a-case-study-in-inconsistent-narrative-selection-and-framing-that-tends-to-favor-republicans/ |
Not OP, but yeah. I canceled cable a few years ago so no longer get CNN and Fox. Regular news that comes on ABC, NBC and local news is all I need to watch these days. It gives me an overall outlook on what's going on in the world and I don't have to pay for it. News should be free. |
Wired is doing great work and I think they are running special pricing that is practically free. |
But please donate to AP |
I am cost cutting, job market is bad, but I need to read news to stay current. |

Maybe you're asking the wrong question. If it's free, are they just telling you what you want to hear and more opinion than hard news? |
Democracy dies in darkness…. |
So you don't need cable news |
