Where to go outside of the continental US for June 14 weekend?

Toronto is 1 hr 45 min flight.

and about the same time to take a train from Toronto to Niagara Falls if that appeals

It would be just for 2 full days, 2 or 3 nights, no kids, at least good food and somewhere to walk around. Oddly enough, we've never been to Canada.

Flying into Mtl is going to be a mess on F1 weekend - the city isn’t super easy to get around/ through if you don’t know it, even if all
You’re striving for is to get it Ottawa.

Isn’t there a Porter flight from DC to TO? There used to be.

I came here to say Montreal.

Do Chicago - 90 min direct easy. Best city ever.

Hudson Valley, Maine or Berkshires.

always someone who wants to change the question

Why not just a staycation and also it's pretty easy to make your own pound cake so you don't need a recommendation for that from a store.

(so true pp)

An option you didn't list is flying to Buffalo and driving to Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake; I've done that and had a good time!

DP- I would do that! Can you wrap Toronto into that or is the drive not worth it given the feedback already?

If you could get tickets, that would be an amazing weekend.

With that short amount of time, I think it’s an appropriate question to ask. Why is leaving the country a criteria?

To avoid the Orange Scumbag’s birthday and his stupid parade. How do you not see that?!

I don't think you have to leave the country to avoid the orange menace and his totalitarian jackbooted birthday bash; you could just go somewhere far from DC or somewhere in nature.

We rented a car and went to Niagara from Toronto. You can take the main highway of some backroads, and there are some cute towns on the backroads path, so it was a nice drive in its own right.

St Regis

Really depressing that someone asks for interesting things to do in Toronto and are given the name of a luxury hotel chain. It's basically the end of culture.

Who wouldn't want to leave this shithole at every opportunity they're granted?

United flies nonstop to both Montreal and Toronto. But Montreal is really sold out of close in hotels - although cheap GA tix are still available for F1, we just don't have much interest
