Current considerations (based on United shortish nonstop flights): Puerto Rico, Quebec (would have to fly to Montreal - but Montreal is sold out that weekend for racing event), Toronto, St Thomas, Burlington and drive to Canada. It would be just for 2 full days, 2 or 3 nights, no kids, at least good food and somewhere to walk around. Oddly enough, we've never been to Canada. |
Canada makes sense given the short time you have and that you've never been there. Plus in June I'd rather go somewhere cooler than DC rather than a warmer place. An option you didn't list is flying to Buffalo and driving to Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake; I've done that and had a good time! |
yes, adding it to the list. Thanks! |
Anything interesting in Toronto? |
St Regis |
Why does it have to be outside the US? It sounds like this is a kid-free weekend so you should maximize the time to "reconnect" and not waste it all day flying.
Hudson Valley, Maine or Berkshires. |
Canada or Bermuda |
Puerto Rico |

always someone who wants to change the question |
Flying all day sucks and if the weather changes it's a crapshoot. Do something local. I love the Salamander in Middleburg or the Pendry in Baltimore, MD. |
Toronto is an easy 3 day trip. Plenty to do. Good public transportation. Museums, ferry to the islands, nice gardens and walk along the lake. |
With that short amount of time, I think it’s an appropriate question to ask. Why is leaving the country a criteria? |
thanks! (the prior threads about Toronto have not been encouraging) |
Ottawa is often overlooked. There are direct flights from DC. |
Seems pretty obvious why when you look at the date. Personally I don't have any desire to leave town- this is my city, f--k that guy and his fascist parade. But I understand the sentiment, and it's really not that hard or time consuming, plenty of options within 3 hour flight time. |
