I have black dresses for funerals. A winter one (ponte, knee length sheath), and a frilly lightweight cotton one with an A line skirt that ends below the knee.

I think you could wear this to a funeral if it wasn't too wrinkly and you dressed it up with black pumps, nice bag, nice belt.

This. I don't know why people are saying this is classic. This is a "will i get out of my pjs to drive the kids to the bus" outfit. Not flattering unless you are a lithe 5'8 parisienne woman.

It's a midi length on me and looks good. Not sack like at all.

I'm a therapist, I just bought several similar ( with short sleeve/stripes) for work wear this summer. And one black. You can dress it up or down, it's very versatile and easy.

Agree with PPs that it would look cute with sandals and bright accessories.

I also happen to like wearing brown with black in the summer, if done correctly it can look summery and sophisticated. Like a pair of strappy brown leather sandals and woven bag, plus some gold jewelry, could work here. Works best if you also have a good tan!

I wear those everywhere. Much more chic than shorts on summer weekends. Also wear to the office. Keep a blazer or cardigan in a contrasting color to add interest
