Vomited half of colonoscopy prep

The pills can clear you out but for me they took like 12 hours to start working (instead of the two or three it was supposed to be). So despite pooping my guts out I still wasn’t completely cleaned out by the time of colonoscopy. Had to go back in three years versus five.

Yikes! Did they tell you whether you aspirated or not?

They didn't actually directly speak to me about it, but the GI doc looked terrified and the anesthesiologist left before I could speak to her. My primary care says the fact that they prescribed industrial strength antibiotics means they thought that had happened, but didn't put it in my medical record. No, I won't be returning to that doctor.

Op here to report back. Everything went fine. By this morning, I was passing yellow liquid. I also vomited up part of the second half of the prep this morning. I drank a lot of liquids. When I told the nurse about the vomiting she wasn’t concerned at all. Good for another 10 years!

The same happened to me and I was cleaned out enough and it was fine. FWIW, the next time I did it I used coconut water (no pulp) rather than Gatorade and found it much more tolerable. I detest Gatorade.

Maybe both? The 1st day prep was just MiraLAX and Gatorade which I drank at 20 min intervals. I should have drunk it more slowly. I think I had way too much liquid in my stomach. The 2nd day prep tasted nasty. Not sure why that made me vomit. But it’s done and worth it!

My doc said they have to overprescribe the amount of prep - essentially so the same directions apply to every human, petite with good digestive system to obese constipated crap eaters.

I don’t know why they just don’t give everyone the tablets now.
