Summer LCM Options & swimming unattached

LC really does not matter for the 12&u set. Let them enjoy summer swim and have fun with their friends.

I disagree with this. It is more important for 13&O to make this meet than 12&U or 10&U. It is LC and really it does not matter if a 12&U is even swimming LC. But, it does very much matter to the 13&O who are trying to make futures cut and swim in college.

LC should be something fun to try. Too many parents around here are nuts. Your kid is 12 and it is one meet, who cares. They might quit swimming at 16, then what? Wow, they want better cut times for champs and they are 11, why? Seriously. I now know what coaches just roll their eyes at families around here.

If these 12&U are still swimming (because somehow their parents did not burn them out) they will be complaining if their 13&O can't swim because of Time Trial conflicts.

As the parent of a 13 and over swimmer I can tell you that the older club kids really don’t care about time trials. They either use their time from last season or do the make-up time trial. It’s really not as big of a deal as the parents of the 12 and unders make it out to be.

Sorry but if attending make-up time trials vs the regular time trials is the difference between your swimmer making their A meet or not, then LC meets really don't matter for your swimmer.

Our team does not do makeup Time Trials and our 13&O very much care about their times as much as 12&U.

But completely agree there is no reason for any 12&U to care about LC.

DMV summer swim culture is so insufferable. To paraphrase the great Allen Iverson, “we’re talkin’ about rec swim time trials man, not a high level meet, rec swim time trials”.

Our team doesn’t do make up time trials, it seems that some do, most don’t.

Our team also will not let you use last year’s time. So, no time trials or B meet 2 days later, no first A meet.

Wouldn’t that just create a conflict for the 13&u s?

We have the same policy. If you don't have a time from the season you do not swim until you do.

Unless your 12&U is a national level swimmer just skip the meet and attend Time Trials. LC becomes really important when you are 15ish and want to swim in college. Or if you are some of the area swimmers that are trying to make cuts for the big meets and the Olympics.

For the majority of swimmers, it is not a big deal. Skip a day.

Sadly, this isn’t true at some pools. While there’s no risk in swimmers making A Meets, there is risk in getting left of the relay. Will be very possible that a LC Champs qualifying swimmer won’t make the relay at our summer pool this year.

Wouldn’t this just be in an issue for the first A meet relay? Swimmer could swim it for time in the first B meet and earn spot on relay for subsequent meets and relay carnival.

None of this makes sense, if the first B meet is essentially another crack at time trials, and times from that B meet are used to make the lineup for the 1st A meet why wouldn’t that also apply to the 1st A meet relay? Y’all need to breathe, you’re stressing over 12 and under kids (and yes, we know you absolutely are the parents of younger kids because I refuse to believe any parent of a teen swimmer cares this much about summer swim anymore) being on a relay at the 1st meet of summer swim. Relax.

Yes, just an issue for the first A meet. My child, center lane for every A meet at age 8 and 9, missed our time trials to attend my brother‘s wedding at age 10. 1st and 2nd place in week 1, but didn’t make the relay until week 2.
