Birkenstocks

It's best to wear Birkenstocks a short time every day, like an hour or two, for a while. Like wear them at home at night for a couple of weeks before you start wearing them all day long.

I wear barefoot shoes most of the time, but love my Birks. Not the soft sole — made that mistake once and regretted it. Get the originals and break them in; it’s worth the effort.

Same except 35 years. Used to be just me and my parish priest who wore them, and you had to visit a college town to buy them, lol.

Can anyone with wide/flat feet weigh in on how they work for them?

Wide feet and have these. Width isn’t the problem, it’s that they don’t stay on as easily as styles with 2+ straps.

NP and +1. I don't have wide nor flat feet and I love (LOVE) the look of these, but they don't stay on. I need something with a strap across the middle of my foot.

I own five pair of Birks. They all are just somewhat hard.

I find the Rick Owens Birks to have a softer footbed and softer leathers. Maybe because it's supposed to be more luxe

Same here. I also love the look of these and have two pairs. As a person with a wider, flat foot foot they initially felt too snug, so I adjusted these by opening up the buckle to the next hole. But I found that was too wide and they were constantly slipping off my feet. So I retightened them to the original placement, and they eventually loosened over time and adjusted to my foot.

The 1774 versions are so cute.

They are good looking but I'm not paying $330 for them.

I could not get past the break in period on Birkenstocks - I had a pair for a month and they hurt just as much as the day I got them. They were so painful. How long does it normally take people to break them in??

Sweetie, are you 16? Birks have been popular for at least 60 years. They've never gone out of style.
