I get my news online mostly or listening to NPR/WTOP on the radio.
The local news is mostly depressing. If anything, I'll watch ABC. |
| If I have on the local news and one of my kids comes into the room I turn it off immediately. It's all horrid stories and over-hype about the weather. If I had to choose between letting my kids see the local news or porn, I really think I'd choose the porn! |

Jim Vance (I love his sarcasm) and Doreen at night. But I can't STAND Barbara Harrison and that doofus Joe Krebs in the AM so I go with Doug McKelway and Allison Starling.
Pat Collins is also another quirky local gem. I'm a local news junkie (guess it comes from working in news?). |
| Ok, I'm in the liberal camp, but have to admit I try to catch Fox 5 news at 10 because I like Brian Bolzer (spelling?) He always gets sarcastic when forced to do obvious promos/"news stories" on fluff like American Idol, so I appreciate his sense of humor. Otherwise I get most of my news from washingonpost.com or NPR. . . |

Yes! I love Fox 5 at 10pm - their newscasters crack me up.
For the early pm news (5pm on), I go back and forth between channel 4 and 7. however, like a PP, I turn it off when my kids are around (which is all the time) because of the violence. When my 5 yo dd made a comment about someone dying or being dead from a gunshot wound during a news story, that's when I understood what people meant by all the violence on tv. Guess I'm just desensitized. |
| Fox 5 News, Yahoo.com and of course Daily Show and Colbert Report...do those count? |
| washingtonpost.com and nytimes.com |
| I love News 4 at 11 with Jim and Doreen. But like a pp, can't stand Barbara Harrison. She can't read a news prompter without stumbling about every third sentence and it drives me crazy. Also they have lousy election coverage in the morning. So, I watch channel 7 at 5:30 am. |
11pm I watch Chanel 7 news. I would love to get my hands on Leon Harris
|
| I love Fox 5 News!! Mostly for entertainment. The newscasters and anchors are hilarious. (and I'm a former journalist and I wouldn't admit this anywhere but on an anonymous site). |
| Don't like any of the "news" channels -- they are all run by the entertainment industry. We watch the News Hour With Jim Lerher on PBS. The first few minutes are a news summary of the days events and then the rest is devoted to in-depth topics. I think it is well balanced without leaning too far left or right. |

To the PP who mentioned Pat Collins....I second that.
He's quite a character....we can't wait....to....hear....the.....drama.....of.....his.....reporting.....each.....night! |

Fox 5 is too dramatic - they act like they are reporting some super important ground breaking story. Totally lame and their reporters are really big dorks.
Channel 4 is ok. Jim Vance kinda has weird diction - just hurry up and say the story instead of...talking...like...this. Pat Collins is even worse. Doreen, I always thought, was pretty. I saw her at Giant once. I end up reading Drudge. |

Perhaps I'm a Luddite.
I read the NYT and Wash Post. If I watch, it's John Stewart. |
| The worst one? Will Thomas on Fox 5. Where did they find that nerd? Is he still on? |
