Is law enforcement - police, ICE agents, FBI, DEA - part of “big government”?

Anonymous
"Big government" just means parts of the government that conservatives don't want to pay for and don't like.

The majority of arrests in the U.S are of white people.

But MAGA news is full of arrests of POC and migrants. If white US citizens are targeted for things that are not unlawful, like peaceful protest, then that may elicit a different response.

Those arrests are in the news because democrats support criminals and burn cities to ground in their zealous anti police rhetoric.

We don’t riot when a white person gets got by police.

Nope, just when your favorite sports team loses a damn game.

In 2020 or 2021 people started hating on the police. They got government support. People forgot that kick- butt police women like this one exist, and actually do good things:

Then voters got together and said “well actually we need the police because things seem a little chaotic now. There is a shady guy asking for money everytime I turn left or right in my once scenic neighborhood

They voted for this bc we felt the impact of defund the police. Now we are surprised but maybe a little patient too bc policing is not easy or pleasant for anyone

Defund the police was galactically stupid. It was such a gift.

Police also arrest their own. Some of the drunk police videos are actually funny

this one is not funny

This is what differentiates the US from other countries. We like rule of law but not the police enforcement piece ?? Think about it

I’m a Democrat and that made me SO mad. I have cop friends (weren’t they dems once?) who convinced me that the liberal prosecutors were crummy. I researched it on my own and came to the same conclusion. Fine be soft on the sentences , but still prosecute them, by god!!

Thank you for being reasonable.

I have not lived in a city where police were defunded. Where are all these cities where police budgets precipitously dropped?

I do know cops in a lot of cities got butthurt fee-fees though because they read some things on the internet. Things likely stirred up by foreign adversaries.

How do they not realize they are part of the Big Government they ideologically despise? Explain it like I’m five.

With covid stuff sentencing got easier and easier, policy groups took credit for it. There was complicity of light or treatment of criminals. At the same time, a dozen or more high profile prosecutors said they would not bring charges or enforce certain crimes. All of this was official policy. People witnessed an increase or at least perceptions of increases in crime in their communities

At the same time, the local battles started in school boards. There were heated and places like Montgomery Co, Maryland became unreasonable. You’ll see them put in line by the Supreme Court soon. Things were all over the place and people begged for order. The president wandered around and talked about Sister Mary. He disrespected Gold Star families because he was out of it. They went on ABC News to tell everyone

People were angry about all of it.
They voted. The End

You just described 90% of the liberal posters here.

Take your fee fees and read this:

1. New York City, NY – $1 billion. The City Council approved a budget that reallocated approximately $1 billion from the NYPD to other services, including education and social services.
2. Los Angeles, CA – $150 million. The Los Angeles City Council voted to cut $150 million from the LAPD budget, reallocating funds to community programs and services.
3. Austin, TX – $150 million. Austin’s City Council approved a $150 million cut from the police budget, representing about one-third of the department’s total budget.
4. Seattle, WA – $76 million. Seattle announced a $76 million reduction in the police department’s budget, including transferring some responsibilities to other departments.
5. Portland, OR – $15 million. Portland reduced its police budget by $15 million, eliminating specific units and investing in alternative community safety programs.
6. Minneapolis, MN – $8 million. The Minneapolis City Council approved a budget cut of over $8 million to the police department, redirecting funds to mental health and violence prevention programs.
7. Philadelphia, PA – $33 million. Philadelphia canceled a planned $19 million increase to the police budget and shifted $14 million to other areas, including affordable housing.

Well that settles that. Thank you sir or ma’am. Defund was one of the worst political gaffs in the history of this country.

Agree. But was it a gaff or something else? I mean others helped fan the fires - of course people attended and advocates.

I would listen to Radio Sputnik during my drive time. The programs I would catch was basically Black radio. The Russian voice was very over the top

Radio and Television radio report: https://rbr.com/sputniks-d-c-based-programming-winds-down/

I don’t think influencers are to blame for anything. Americans are responsible for our own behavior. But from what I observed,
Sputnik loved Defund the Police. The broadcasters were all over it.

(Personally I don’t listen to npr much bc I think it’s too much human interest, too much crying, the journalists are 103. And It’s distracting and not with the times. I’ll listen to CSPAN Bloomberg. I read my news).

Local law enforcement is too decentralized to be part of “big government.” State law enforcement works under the authority of the governor. The Feds can more easily be labeled “big government” but that can be both the Democrat and Republican sides of the coin.

During the Biden Administration the Republicans claimed the FBI was weaponized and Democrats were aghast. Now the Democrats think the FBI, DEA, DHS and all the other alphabet agencies are weaponized.
