Playing chicken with my sister

Nada.

Especially my sister.

What would she help you? You’re a b**tvh that hates her because of who she voted for. I wouldn’t help you either and I didn’t vote for Trump.

I don't need her help. But she's a judgy "born again " Christian who has driven away her own family members.

Her own son and DIL distance themselves from her. They are conservative Christians as well but not Trump voters.

Our cousin has also written her out of their lives because of her behavior and her adoration for Trump.

So I was pretty much the last of her family to have anything to do with her besides my brother. And when we talk about him she pretty much only complains about him.

I think they care, but Trumpism is an identity, which will always come first. Identity is very entrenched and dictates our actions (but it can be permeable if you want it to be).

“In January 2025, a CNN-SSRS poll found that 53% of Republicans viewed loyalty to Trump as central to their political identity and very important to what being a Republican is, beating values such as "a less powerful federal government (46%), supporting congressional Republicans (42%) or opposing Democratic policies (32%)".[70]”

Hello, Russia.

I assume OP means that Trumpism has torn more families apart, harking back to the civil war, which had the same effect on families. If your goal is to sow discord, you can do that without a single bullet.

Just about every single white family we know with 3-4 siblings has been divided over Trump. Both mine and DH’s and the vast majority of our friends have siblings who have stopped speaking to one or all siblings. It’s sad for all, isn’t it?

Yes, this. Trump lust has torn families apart.

You’re insufferable. I’m sure you’ll have a nice life alone.

I am not alone. I have lifetime friends going back to the time I was 10 years old, and I am in my 60s now.

Besides my career, I have a church community, am on several boards and am an active volunteer.

And I have a DH of 40 years and children (not Trump fan among them).

My sister has always wanted to be someone I am not: A conservative Christian who is a racist homophobe to boot. (She was planning to get a gun because she was afraid Black people would rob her rural Southern home, some sort of dysfunctional fantasy tied to BLM.)

I still talk to my brother, who can have a conversation without talking about Trump.

OP, rest assured if they were worried about the stock market under biden, they are absolutely $hiTTINg themselves now. Billions have been lost. BILLIONS. Just google "how much have people lost in ..." and google will wrap it up for you with 401Ks, other data with very real numbers impacting very real people.

There's no chance she got out of the market or is IN with the Trump crowd making money off the dips. She's up the creek. I'd wait to see if she volunteers anything. Just be satisfied that she's horrified. Seriously.

I am not a Trump fan, but you live in bubble to write off the majority of the country like that. You actually sound pretty close-minded.

Except there is a very good chance Sister is not sh!tting herself, is not horrified, nor worried if her finances have taken a hit.

This is because she is a member of a cult. Just as cult members gleefully give over every single asset they have, to be in the leader's circle. It is a mental illness and won't go away without deprogramming.

She is always worried about money, though.

The market is recovering. Your sister is fine and is probably not thinking of you.

Because fox News told her to worry about it, they are telling her it's fine and short term pain for gain and trump is telling her grocery prices are down so she feels safe. Her perception will beat out reality, that's how propaganda works, look at the support for dictators where media is highly controlled. They have room to push greater losses to American wealth and infringe on more rights without losing support. Obviously prices are up and if everything had stayed the exact same with a slightly better stock market under Harris, fox would be telling her the country was on the brink of collapse and her money was evaporating (even if her stocks were doing better) and she would be sure it's true.
